Introduction

Two months ago I quit my job to join my boss in a new firm. This boss is also pretty damn cool and has let me take the summer off to go travelling before I start.

So he's who let me out.

With two months at my disposal, and only a month to prepare, a round the world trip would be more mileage than is needed and I found earlier this year that I do indeed get jet lag, big time. So my aims were to spend time in a few countries that will change irreversibly in a matter of years and also to see a few mates, former colleagues and festivals and celebrations along the way. This has led to an itinerary of ...

Cuba 30/5 - 6/6
Belize (reached overland from Cancun) 8/6 - 25/6
Mexico City 25/6 - 28/6
Chicago and Miami 28/6 - 6/7
Balaton Sound music festival in Hungary  (reached overland from Vienna) 11/7-15/7
Then trains through Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Greece down to Paros and Mykonos, returning on 1/8.

Having never done a blog I'm hoping to write regularly and post the odd photo, and to welcome advice on things to see or opinions and insights from other travellers. It may not always be plain sailing... I've not got my Cuba visa yet, for a start.

Thanks for reading! Next stop Gatwick....
